The supporters of Chelsea Football Club might get to see Christopher Nkunku play a competitive game for the first time when the Blues host Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's manager, Mauricio Pochettino confirmed in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game. According to the Argentine, he can't give an update on the French international until he is accessed one more time before the game.

"I don't believe we can recover some players, still one training more. We need to assess tomorrow and then decide. They are close. Nkunku has trained and Lavia is also doing well. They are close to returning but we need to access them tomorrow and then decide whether they can feature. Maybe Lavia is the more difficult, but we need to assess Christoph for tomorrow."

Recall that Nkunku picked up an injury while he was playing for Chelsea during the pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund which has ruled him out of action for the first part of the 2023/24 season.

Chelsea supporters will hope Nkunku is fit enough for the game against Brighton because this will give them more goal-scoring options.
