Manchester United are reportedly set to bring in Matthijs de Ligt to Old Trafford as they look to build a new squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his official X account on Saturday, June 29, 2024. According to the Italian, Manchester United have made Matthijs de Ligt their priority as the summer transfer window opens.

The 24-year-old has been tagged as a potential replacement for Raphael Varane, who left Manchester United after the expiration of his contract. According to reports, the Dutchman is open to joining his fellow countryman, Erik Ten
Hag at the club.

What did Matthijs de Ligt say about his future?

Matthijs de Ligt said this is not the right time to speak about his future at Bayern Munich while he was sneaking at a press conference while on international duties with the Netherlands at Euro 2024.

He said,

"I have already said this is not the time for me to think about it. We are playing at the Euros now and that's very important for me and the national team. That's why I can't say now what I think about this situation. But what I can say is that I've now played my second season at Bayern, I am very happy. For now, I'm focused on the Euros and then we'll see what happens."

Manchester United supporters will hope that De Ligt makes a decision to join the Red Devils ahead of next season.
