Manchester United terminates Ruben Amorim's contract

Manchester United have announced the departure of head coach Ruben Amorim with immediate effect just two days after Chelsea sacked Enzo Maresca.
Manchester United confirmed in a statement that the decision to sack the 40-year-old wqs because of the recent poor form of the team. The Portugal international was appointed by Man Utd 14 months ago, when he succeeded Erik ten Hag.

The club released a statement confirming the exit of Ruben Amorim confirming that Darren Fletcher would have take charge of the club pending when a new manager is announced.
"With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change.This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish. The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future. Darren Fletcher will take charge of the team against Burnley on Wednesday."
The decision was taken after the disappointing result against Leeds United. Manchester United have won eight and drawn seven of their first 20 matches in the Premier League this season.
Amorim earned 58 points from his 47 league matches, with a goal difference of minus six. This return ranks Man Utd 14th in a table of Premier League points since his first day at the club, with Arsenal at the top on 103.
