Manchester City confirms Phil Foden's contract extension

Manchester City have officially confirmed that academy graduate Phil Foden has signed a new long-term contract, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2030.

The new four-year deal reinforces the club's commitment to one of its most decorated homegrown players and ends speculation over his future. Foden, who joined City's academy as a child and made his senior debut in 2017, expressed his delight at remaining with his boyhood club.

The England international said he is excited to continue working under new head coach Enzo Maresca and believes the team remains "hungry for more success" despite an underwhelming campaign by their recent standards.

He said,

"I am delighted to extend my stay at this incredible club. Manchester City is my home, and I'm excited about what we can achieve together in the years ahead. Everyone here is hungry for more success, and I want to help the team win even more trophies."

The 26-year-old has made more than 400 appearances for Manchester City, winning six Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, three FA Cups, and numerous other honours.

However, he endured a difficult 2025-26 season and missed out on England's World Cup squad, City remain confident he will play a key role in the club's next season.
