Manchester United have officially confirmed Sir Jim Ratcliffe's acquisition of the club following the approval of the English Football Association.

The approval of the English Football Association and the Premier League had been the only delay stopping Man United from confirming  Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the co-owner of the club.

Reports now indicate that Sir Ratcliffe and his establishment INEOS Sports would be in charge of football activities which would include player transfer and many more at Manchester United. Concerns have however surfaced as INEOS Sports are also the owners of the French Ligue 1 side Nice, thereby making Man United part of a multi-club system under INEOS Sports.

Speaking on the conclusion of the deal, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, stated,  “To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honour and comes with great responsibility. This marks the completion of the transaction, but just the beginning of our journey to take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football, with world-class facilities for our fans. Work to achieve those objectives will accelerate from today.”

The Glazer family through the office of the co-chairman also shared their thoughts on the upcoming partnership. Joel Glazer said, “I would like to welcome Sir Jim as co-owner and look forward to working closely with him and INEOS Sport to deliver a bright future for Manchester United.”

Sir Ratcliffe seems to be focused on hitting the ground running as reports indicate that his first action as co-owner of the club is focused on securing the services of Dan Ashworth as the sporting director at Old Trafford, a move which reports indicate is almost completed.

The full role of INEOS Sports at Manchester United might not be visible till the summer 2024 transfer window according to reports.
