Defender leaves Chelsea as a free agent
Malang Sarr reportedly leaves Chelsea Football Club as a free agent ahead of the 2024/25 season after failing to break into the club's first team.
The Frenchman moved to Chelsea with high hopes when he joined the Stamford Bridge club as a free transfer in 2020. He played just 21 times for the club, making his last appearance for the club in May 2022.
L’Équipé confirmed that Malang Sarr signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 club, Lens, following an agreement on personal terms. He will travel to France to undergo a medical before officially joining the club.
He was close to joining Le Havre in January 2024, but the deal collapsed during the final hours of the transfer window. Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech have left upon the expiration of their contracts alongside Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, and Omari Hutchinson.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga are also expected to expected to leave Chelsea permanently before the start of the 2024/25 season.
The Blues have already signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu, and Tosin Adarabioyo so far this window.
