Liverpool FC's first top player target under the new leadership of Arnie Slot of the June 2024 transfer window has been revealed.

Liverpool is reportedly close to signing Real Sociedad standout Takefusa Kubo, who is expected to be the first player signing under manager Arne Slot in the June 2024 transfer window.

Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp after nearly nine years in charge, and reports from Japan suggest that Kubo is on the verge of completing a lucrative move to Anfield.

According to the Mirror UK, the deal is nearing completion, with the player's representatives having travelled to England.

Liverpool is prepared to pay around £55 million for Kubo, with the report indicating that he has been selected as Mohamed Salah's long-term replacement.

Last season, the 23-year-old contributed 12 goals in 41 appearances for Sociedad as they secured a sixth-place finish in La Liga and qualified for the Europa League. Zinedine Zidane admires Kubo, praising his performances during a loan spell at Mallorca while he was with Real Madrid.

If Kubo finalizes a move to Anfield, he will be the seventh Japanese player to feature in the Premier League next season, joining Endo, Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma, Arsenal's Takehiro Tomiyasu, Crystal Palace's new signing Daichi Kamada, and Southampton's duo Yukinari Sugawara and Renato Takaoka.
