According to reports Liverpool will commence negotiations with their preferred candidate to replace the departing Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season.

Liverpool according to BBC, are scheduled to commence discussions with Feyenoord today, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, regarding manager Arne Slot, as they continue their quest for Jurgen Klopp's successor. Jurgen Klopp shocked the football world when he announced in January 2024, that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/2024 season, prompting the Reds to embark on an extensive search for potential candidates.

Slot, who led the Dutch side, Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 2022/2023 season, has emerged as a fitting contender aligning with Liverpool's criteria. Feyenoord, who currently holds the second place on the log in the Eredivisie, clinched the Dutch Cup this season.

Slot was previously associated with a move to Leeds United following Jesse Marsch's dismissal in February 2023. However, he withdrew from consideration for the Tottenham Hotspur vacancy last summer, subsequently extending his contract with Feyenoord until 2026.

He assumed the role of Feyenoord's head coach in December 2020 after departing AZ Alkmaar, where he achieved success in his inaugural managerial stint. Throughout his playing career, the former midfielder accumulated over 100 appearances for both FC Zwolle and NAC Breda. While Xabi Alonso was linked with the Anfield position, the former Reds midfielder disclosed in March his commitment to Bayer Leverkusen, now crowned German champions. Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim remains another prominent candidate linked with the Liverpool managerial role.

Slot in previous interviews had expressed his desire to make a move to the Premier League as opposed to joining another side in the Dutch league.
