Liverpool confirms Arne Slot as its new manager

Liverpool Football Club confirms the appointment of Ange Slot as its manager as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp, who left the Reds at the expiration of his contract this season.

The news was confirmed on the official website of Liverpool on Monday, May 20, 2024, which is one day after the end of the 2023/24 football season. According to the club, Ange Slot signed a three-year deal, which will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027.

What will Ange Slot bring to Liverpool?

The Dutchman will bring his experience from the Eredivisie, having managed Feyenoord for three seasons, of which he led them to the league title in 2023 and was named Eredivisie Manager of the Year on two occasions.

He recently led Feyenoord to victory in the KNVB Cup in April 2024 after they defeated NEC Nijmegen 1-0 in the final. Prior to moving to Feyenoord, Slot held the position of AZ Alkmaar head coach, and he had led them to second place in the table, trailing leaders Ajax only on goal difference, when the Dutch season was cancelled due to COVID-19 in 2019-20.

When will Arne Slot resume his role with Liverpool?

Arne Slot will resume his role with Liverpool on June 1, 2024, which is subject to a work permit.

Liverpool supporters will hope that they can enjoy more success than they enjoyed when Klopp was in charge of the club.
