Lionel Messi Equals Cristiano Ronaldo's Record

Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi has equalled the number of trophies won by his closest football rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The midfielder won his second trophy when he won the Finalissima trophy when Argentina defeated Italy 3-1 in the game on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022. The game was a contest between the winner of the Euro 2022 and the winner of the Copa America.

Messi waited for so long before winning a trophy with the senior team of the Argentine national team but he ended up with two trophies in less than a year.

Ronaldo has also won two trophies for Portugal, he won the first during the Euro 2016 and also won the first edition of the Nations League in 2019. Both players will most likely have their last participation for their national teams when the FIFA World Cup goes down in Qatar.
