Leicester City gains promotion to the Premier League

Leicester City regained promotion back to the English top-flight football just a season after they were relegated from the Premier League.

The Foxes promotion was confirmed on Friday, April 26, 2024, following Leeds United's defeat at the hands of Queens Park Rangers. This result puts Leicester City four points ahead of Leeds with one more game to be played in the English Championship.

Leicester can now claim the Championship title on Monday, April 27, 2024, with victory at Preston if third-placed Ipswich fail to beat Hull City on Saturday, April 27, 2024. On the other hand, Ipswich can join Leicester in the Premier League if they pick five points in their last three games.

Leicester were top of the Championship for the majority of the season, but a major dip in form that saw them lose six games in 10 between February and April had left them in a vulnerable position.
