Leicester City confirm the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy

Leicester City have confirmed the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as its new manager following the decision to terminate Steve Copper's contract following a series of bad results.

The club confirmed the appointment of the Dutchman on its official website on Friday, November 29, 2024. According to reports from the club, Ruud Van Nistelrooy signed a three-year deal which will keep him with the Foxes until the summer of 2027.

Leicester City’s statement read as follows,

"We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as Leicester City’s new First Team Manager. The 48-year-old Dutchman joins us with a wealth of experience at the highest level of the game, both as a player and a coach, and has agreed terms on a contract to June 2027. Ruud will arrive in the UK in time to be in attendance for our Premier League trip to Brentford on Saturday, before assuming full First Team responsibilities from Sunday. City will be led at the Gtech Community Stadium by First Team Coach Ben Dawson, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes."
