Lauren James and Michelle Alozie have reacted to the England star's foot stomp, which led to a red card in the Women's World Cup 2023 fixture, England vs Nigeria.

Following a nervy round of 16 fixture, England vs Nigeria at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, Super Falcons player Michelle Alozie has reacted to Lauren James's foot stamp, which led to the England player receiving a red card in the game.

The footballer and medical practitioner took to her social media platform to share her thoughts about Lauren's violent conduct, stating that she understood that emotions were high on such a big stage and, as such, did not take it as anything cynical.

Lauren James then quoted Alozie's statement apologizing for her conduct in the fixture, explaining that she would learn from her mistakes and improve.

Lauren is expected to miss the quarter-finals, semis and the final of the Women's World Cup if England progresses to the next stage of the competition.

During her press conference after the game, England head coach Wiegman spoke on the challenge and said, "She's an inexperienced player on this stage and has done really well, and I think in a split second she just lost her emotions. And, of course she doesn't want to hurt anyone. She's the sweetest person I know, and things happen like that, and you can't change it anymore, so it's a huge lesson for her to learn, but of course, it's not something that she really did on purpose."
