Lamine Yamal, with his assist in Barcelona's 2-1 win in the Champions League, has broken Kylian Mbappe's record in the tournament.

Spain and Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has broken yet another record in the UEFA Champions League. During Barcelona’s Tuesday night fixture, the young star added a new milestone to his growing list of achievements.

The teenager provided an assist for Jules Kounde in Barcelona’s 2–1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, a contribution that now gives him more goal involvements in the Champions League than any player aged 18 or under. This record was previously held by Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.

Barcelona had to work hard to secure maximum points at the newly renovated Camp Nou. The Catalans fell behind in the 21st minute through Ansgar Knauff, shortly after Robert Lewandowski’s earlier effort was ruled out. However, they came back stronger in the second half. Kounde scored twice to overturn the deficit, with assists coming from Marcus Rashford and Lamine Yamal.

Yamal’s assist for the winning goal means he has now been directly involved in 14 Champions League goals (seven goals and seven assists) for Barcelona. This achievement sees Lamien Yamal break and surpass Mbappé’s previous record of ten goals and three assists for players aged 18 or younger in the competition’s history.
