Lamine Yamal bags another prestigious award
Barcelona's forward player, Lamine Yamal has been named the winner of the winner of the Golden Ball Award for 2024.
The Spanish international was named the winner of the award on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, which was organised by an Italian publication Tuttosport, an award given to the most outstanding under-21 footballer in Europe.
The announcement was made during a live-streamed event on Wednesday, with the official presentation of the trophy scheduled for Monday, December 16, 2024. Lamine Yamal is the fourth Barcelona player to claim the Golden Boy award, joining a group that includes Lionel Messi (2005), Pedri González (2021), and Gavi (2022). is also the fourth Spanish player to receive the award, following Pedri, Gavi, Isco Alarcón (Málaga, 2012), and Cesc Fàbregas (Arsenal, 2006).
Lamine Yamal won the Kopa Trophy, an equivalent prize handed out during the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony. He has scored six goals and provided eight assists in 16 games in all competitions this season.
Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham won the 2023 Golden Boy.
