Kylian Mbappe reportedly ruled out of El Clásico

Real Madrid’s forward, Kylian Mbappe, has suffered a knee injury and will be unavailable for the next few weeks.
Real Madrid confirmed the news in a statement which was released on the club’s website on December 31, 2025. The announcement was made just as Real prepares to resume competition after the winter break.
What happened to Kylian Mbappe?
Mbappé underwent scans on Wednesday after feeling persistent discomfort in his left knee. An MRI revealed a ligament lesion, meaning the talismanic attacker will be out of action while he rests and begins treatment. The club’s official statement said his condition will continue to be monitored by the Real Madrid medical team.
How long will the injury rule out Kylian Mbappe?
Real Madrid hasn’t given an exact return date for the French player. However, there are reports from multiple outlets suggesting that Mbappé will be sidelined for at least three weeks.
This means he will be out for important matches, including;
La Liga match vs Real Betis
Spanish Super Cup fixtures, notably the semi-final against Atlético Madrid in Saudi Arabia and the possibility of a final against Barcelona.
Additional league and cup games depending on how quickly he responds to treatment.
Real Madrid fans will hope that the injury does not go beyond the three weeks that have been stipulated by the media.
