Kai Havertz bids his final goodbye to Chelsea supporters
It was a day of mixed emotions for most Chelsea supporters around the world following the exit of Kai Havertz to Arsenal.
The German sent an emotional message to the supporters of the club on his official social media account on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Kai Havertz thanked everyone at the club for the support that they showed towards him in the past the three years.
"Dear @ChelseaFC, I would have preferred for you to hear my thoughts on leaving Chelsea first from myself before my thoughts on me joining my new team. This isn’t my style and it upsets me that you had to hear of it in this way. I write this letter with a heavy heart to all the fans. A big thank you for all your support, we achieved a dream of winning the Champions League together! Kai 💙."
Havertz also expressed his excitement about joining the Gunners. He appreciated the history of the club and looks forward to winning trophies with the North London club.
His tweet read, "It's super exciting for me to be joining this amazing club and to be part of the Arsenal family. This club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of things. The mentality in the Arsenal squad is very high and you can feel that. That was one of the reasons why it has been so hard to play against Arsenal recently. The aim is to win trophies and I’m going to give everything to do that for the supporters and everyone at the club. I'm now looking forward to meeting all the players and the staff when we come back for pre-season."
Havertz signed a long-term deal which will keep him at the club, the Gunners will also look to complete Declan Rice's deal before the start of the pre-season.
