Juventus Football Club have been hit by a hefty points deduction in Serie A after being found guilty of breaking the rules in the league.

Court Sentence Dani Alves to Prison Without Bail Condition

Serie A’s FIGC Prosecutor decided to give the Old Lady the points deduction after they were found guilty of capital gain violations. The news of the points deduction broke in the late hours of Friday, January 20th, 2023.

The entire board of the club had resigned earlier in the season including Pavel Nedved after the investigation into the club finances began. The investigation related to payments made to players during 2020 and 2021, when they agreed to take a pay cut during the Covid-affected season.

FIGC Prosecutor’s request to reopen the sporting investigation into the club was accepted by the country's Federal Court of Appeals. Juventus deny any wrongdoing and say its accounting is in line with industry standards, but they do admit the salary maneuvers.

Juventus are currently 10 points behind league leaders Napoli in the league. They will have 22 points in the 10th position behind Fiorentina in 9th place with 23 points.

Although a series of appeals can now take place, the other issue Juventus has is the reaction from the Club Financial Control Body First Chamber. In August last year( 2022) they agree on a settlement with Juventus over potential breaches of the Club Licensing and FFP rules.
