Nigerians were left in a disappointing state after the Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to pick up any win in their opening two games of the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.

The Super Eagles picked up a draw in the home game against Lesotho and the away game against Zimbabwe. The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro has explained why his team failed to beat Zimbabwe.

Peseiro confirmed that the players failed to get enough rest following their rest from Nigeria.

"It was a tough, difficult trip from Nigeria in the flight, many hours, the players didn’t rest enough for quick play at the same level.”

He added,

First half, very bad, second half, much better.”

Walter Musona and Kelechi Iheanacho scored both goals at Huye Stadium in Rwanda on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
