AS Roma announce the sack of Jose Mourinho

Italian club side AS Roma in an official announcement have confirmed the sacking of the club's head coach Jose Mourinho.

The official statement released by AS Roma confirmed that the Serie A side will be parting ways with the Portuguese coaching legend since he took over as the 60th manager of the club in May 2021.

The official statement read, "AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect. Mourinho was unveiled as the Giallorossi’s 60th coach in May 2021. He led the team to win the Conference League in Tirana on May 25th, 2022, and to the Europa League final in Budapest last season."

The title winning coach has revealed in numerous interviews that he has received offers from clubs in numerous leagues in different parts of the world but his focus was however on AS Roma amidst questions of his future at the club.

Mourinho might be poised to making a return to the Premier League or taking up an offer in Saudi Arabia or taking a short break from coaching as he had initially done in the past.

What is next for AS Roma?

Amidst looming financial sanction concerns, popular sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that former player Daniele de Rossi might be poised for a return but in a managerial role at the club.
