Chelsea Football Club suffered its fifth defeat of the season following their defeat to Newcastle United in the English Premier League.

The supporters of the Blues came into the game with hopes of expecting at least a point from Saint James' Park but they were left with nothing at the end of the match. Chelsea's woes were compounded when the club's captain, Reece James was shown a second yellow card in the game which automatically ruled him out of the next league game against Brighton.

James sent a message to Chelsea supporters after the game. The English international who has struggled with injury apologised and also took responsibility for his red card and the performance of the team.

"I take full responsibility for my red card, two silly mistakes. Another lesson for me to learn, I apologise to fans and teammates. The performance was far below our standards but this game does not define us! We've made huge improvements against many top teams."

Thiago Silva who had a poor performance in the game also apologised to the supporters on his official social media account a few minutes after the game.

"I am devastated. It wasn't a good day for us. I would like to apologize to everyone for the defeat, especially to my teammates who believe in me and support me every day. I take full responsibility. Let's gather strength and come back stronger."

Chelsea supporters will hope the players can take pain from this defeat and improve in their next couple of games in the league and cup competitions which starts against Brighton on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
