Alexander Isak has joined club legend Alan Shearer as the only players to record a historic number of goals for Newcastle in a single season.

Swedish international Alexander Isak has continued to prove how much of a lethal forward he is on the pitch and his brace against Tottenham Hotspur in the 4-0 thumping of the London side in the Premier League has seen him reach a historic landmark only Alan Shearer held at Newcastle United.

Isak has now scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season and a total of 21 goals overall, marking him as the first Newcastle player to achieve 20 goals in all competitions during a top-flight campaign since Alan Shearer accomplished the feat 20 years ago.

Speaking on his side's victory over Spur Isak stated, "Playing football is really fun at the moment, especially when we have days like this. When the fans are like they are always when we play at home, it feels like we are so strong here. You guys in the media always find more records and statistics to be beaten, but I just play and do my best. It is obviously a nice thing to have. We have spoken about being more precise with our passes, because Tottenham have a high line so if we have good passes we can hurt them in behind."
