Former Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire has explained why his move to West Ham failed to see the light of day.

Maguire explained in an interview with Fabrizio Romano why his deal with the Hammers failed to come during the 2023 summer transfer window. The supporters of the Red Devils have expressed their displeasure with Harry Maguire concerning the way he has played for the club in recent seasons.

"I have not started a game in the first four games of the season, the story comes to me. I want to play football. West Ham? We just didn’t come to an agreement. Man Utd were happy for me to stay and I was happy to fight for my place."

Manchester United's decision not to allow Maguire leave the club was because of the injury to one of its top defenders, Raphael Varane.

He has not played any game in the opening four games of the season which was against Wolves, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Arsenal. It remains to be seen if the defender will be able to break into the first team.
