Groups for the qualifiers of the highly anticipated AFCON 2027 have been confirmed following a draw conclusion today.

The qualification groups for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations have been confirmed following the official draw conducted by the Confederation of African Football.

The draw has set the stage for the road to AFCON 2027, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. A total of 48 countries were placed into four seeding pots, with each qualifying group featuring one team from each pot.

The top two teams from each group will secure qualification for the tournament proper, as nations across the continent begin their push for a place at the expanded finals.

Nigeria have been drawn against Madagascar, Tanzania and Guinea-Bissau in what promises to be an interesting qualifying group for the Super Eagles. The three-time African champions will be expected to compete strongly as they look to book their place at another major continental tournament.

Defending champions Morocco have been placed in Group A alongside Gabon, Niger and Lesotho as they begin the journey towards defending their title.

South Africa, who have continued to show progress under Hugo Broos, will compete in Group D. One of the standout storylines from the draw is their meeting with Kenya, who are coached by former South African international Benni McCarthy.

With the groups now confirmed, attention will turn to the qualifying fixtures as teams across Africa begin their battle for a place at AFCON 2027.
