Graham Potter Explains Why He Left Out Aubameyang from Chelsea's UCL Squad

There have been a lot of mixed reactions concerning Graham Potter's decision to leave out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea's UEFA Champions League Squad.

However, Potter has explained his reason for leaving out the Gabonese from the 25-Man list ahead of the second-round game against Borussia Dortmund on February 14th, 2023. He said it was a tough decision for him to leave out the striker from the team and understands how frustrated the striker would have been.

I don’t think it’s going to be difficult because Pierre is a professional and of course, I understand he will be disappointed. It was a tough decision, a tough call. We had three coming in and two had to go out. He was the one that missed out, he’s done nothing wrong at all. He trained today, he trained very well and he’s got the weekend off so we can report on Monday. It’s a free world.

The former Arsenal player joined Chelsea from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
