Ghana's coach Chris Hughton reportedly attacked after the Black Stars' first defeat at AFCON 2023

The Black stars of Ghana's head coach Chris Hughton, was reportedly attacked after the team suffered their first defeat of AFCON 2023 in the hands of Cape Verde.

The Black Stars of Ghana had suffered a defeat in the final minutes of their opening fixture of AFCON 2023 with Cape Verde picking up all three points in the fixture which was played on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

According to media outlets and reports on the Black Stars of Ghana's trip back to the hotel after the fixture, the head coach of the national side Chris Hughton was reportedly attacked by a Ghanaian football fan.

Chris Hughton was reportedly helped by the security around and other diplomats from Ghana as well. There has been no official report from the Ghanaian football federation about the incident and as such details of the rumoured attack are limited.
