The German Women's received a heroic welcome party from their supporters in Frankfurt, Germany.

Germany lost their first final game in nine attempts at the Women's European Championship which was hosted in England. The Eight-time European Champions were beaten by the Lionesses of England, 2-1 on Sunday, July 31st, 2022. Magull scored the goal for Germany while Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly scored both goals for the Lionesses.

The German team were hit by an injury to their top striker, Alex Popp whoo suffered an injury while in the warm-up session. Lea Schuller started in place of Popp while Svenja Hutt took over as the captain of the team.

Goals from Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly gave England victory over Germany after 120 minutes of football. This is England's first-ever trophy in the history of the country since the World Cup victory over Germany in 1966 at the FIFA World Cup.
