As the Premier League's elite prepare to battle it out on the pitch, FPL managers around the world are gearing up to test their skills, strategy, and luck in the pursuit of bragging rights among their peers.

With new signings, emerging talents, and unpredictable twists awaiting, the 2024/25 FPL season promises to be the most thrilling and unpredictable yet. We have highlighted your best picks for captain choice ahead of week 1 of the new season.

Here are the top five FPL captain choices for Week 1

(1) Erling Haaland:

The Norwegian International is the most expensive player in the history of the FPL due to his impressive performance in the past two seasons, which saw him win the highest goal-scorer award. He is up against a Chelsea side that has been poor in defending during the pre-season under new manager Enzo Maresca.

(2) Mohamed Salah:

The Egyptian King, as he is called by football fans, is up against the newly promoted side, Ipswich Town. Salah has always proven himself to FPL managers, most especially in games against lowly-ranked teams in the league. The game against Ipswich looks like a perfect start to FPL managers who decide to give him the captain armband for week 1.

(3) Bruno Fernandes:

The Portuguese international has been one of the most reliable players for most FPL managers since he joined Manchester United four years ago. The Red Devils will face Fulham in the first game of the new season in front of their home crowd at Old Trafford, most pundits expect that he will either get a goal or an assist especially with the latest announcement of his contract extension.

(4) Cole Palmer:

The English International was one of the most owned players in the league following his fantastic form for the Blues since he joined from Manchester City. If any player would turn things around against Manchester City in the opening game, it would be Cole Palmer.

The midfielder was a key part of Chelsea's success last season, having scored 22 goals and created 11 assists in 29 Premier League games that saw them qualify for the Europa Conference League.

(5) Son Heung-Min:

The South Korean is also one of the most owned players in the Premier League by FPL managers. Son is expected to have good returns when Tottenham travel to face Leicester City in their opening league game of the season. He scored 13 goals and had 10 assists in the Premier League last season.
