The Argentine took his trophy tally to 45 trophies for both club and country, surpassing the previous record held by Brazil's Dani Alves who had won 44 trophies, a record which he held for a very long time. Messi achieved this feat in the final of the 2024 Copa America which saw Argentina defeat Colombia 1-0.

Messi has now won four major titles with Argentina in just three years: one World Cup, two Copa Americas, and a Finalissima from 2021 to 2024. He also won four Champions League titles and ten La Liga championships with Barcelona.
