Football World Mourns the Death of Christian Atsu

The remains of Ghana's Christian Atsu has been found under rubble twelve days after the earthquake in Turkey.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger will be remembered for his last-minute free-kick that gave Hatayspor the victory over Kasimpasa a few hours before the earthquake. More than 45,000 people have lost their lives following the disaster that occurred on February 6th, 2023.

He played for big football clubs like Chelsea, Newcastle, Fc Porto, Everton, and Bournemouth in English top-flight football. The 31-year-old won the 2015 African Player of the tournament.

Atsu played 258 matches in his career and scored 24 goals with 30 assists.
