Football Fans react to Mason Mount getting the number 7 jersey
Football fans around the world have reacted to Manchester United's decision to give Mason Mount the number 7 jersey ahead of the new season.
The Jersey number has previously been worn by some of the greatest players to ever play for Manchester United. However, the Red Devils have been called out by some football fans for giving the number to Mason Mount.
These are the legends that have worn the number seven in the past David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, George Best, and Bryan Robson. Some players ( Angel Di Maria, Alexis Sanchez, Michael Owen and Edison Cavani) also got the number after Ronaldo left the club during his first spell.
Mount joined Manchester United on a contract running until June 2028, with the option of a further year. The 24-year-old midfielder has made 279 club appearances, scoring 58 goals and contributing 53 assists. He is the first player to wear the jersey number since Ronaldo left the club in his second spell.
