The London club submitted a bid of £45 million for the player but the Merseyside club are asking for £50 million and are not willing to accept anything lower than their asking price. The Blues are looking to solidify their midfield as they continue in their quest to win titles this new football season.

Chelsea will have no issue agreeing to personal terms with the player because he had earlier shown interest in joining Tottenham and Newcastle United. However, it is not yet clear if the Stamford Bridge club will increase their bid for the player.

The Blues have reportedly reached an agreement with Inter Milan for the signing of Cesare Casadei for a fee set to be around €15 million and he is expected to be in London to have his medicals.
