The head coach of Chelsea Football Club, Enzo Maresca, has broken the silence on the current situation of Mykhailo Mudryk, who is currently serving a suspension for failing a drug test.

Enzo Maresca was asked about the current situation of Mykhailo Mudryk during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Conference League clash against Shrimmock.

What did Enzo Maresca say about Mykhailo Mudryk's drug situation?

"We have a statement from the club. There is not anything to add. We support and trust Misha. We are offering general support. He's a Chelsea player. It's my duty to be in contact with him. We all believe Mudryk is innocent. For sure he will come back. I don't think Misha’s Chelsea career is over. I think he will come back. We don't know when, that is the only doubt we have in this moment. But for sure, he will be back”.

What did Mykhailo Mudryk say about the situation?

“I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance. This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened. I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon. I cannot say any more now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will as soon as I can."

What is Chelsea's statement on Mudryk drug failure situation?

Chelsea confirmed in a statement that they are aware of the current situation between the player and the FA over the failure of his drug test.

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk concerning an adverse finding in a routine urine test. Both the Club and Mykhailo fully support The FA’s testing programme and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested. Mykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances. Both Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding. The Club will not be commenting any further."

Mudryk joined from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023, the winger has struggled with the transition to the Premier League and is yet to reach the heights of every Chelsea supporter around the world
