Enzo Maresca reveals why Estevao didn't play against Atalanta

Chelsea’s head coach Enzo Maresca has been criticised by the supporters of the club for not playing Willian Esteavo in the defeat against Atalanta
Barcelona FCEnzo Maresca saw his side lose their second game in the UEFA Champions League group phase which came against Bayern Munich and Atalanta. The Blues have been on a bad run of form since their victory against Barcelona since then they have failed to secure any win in their last four games which were against Arsenal, Leeds, Bournemouth and Atalanta.
Maresca explained that the decision to bench Esteavo was because of the injury to Wesley Fofana which saw him bring in Tosin Adarabioyo.
He said,
"The change of Tosin was because we needed to change Fofana. For sure, with one more change there would have been a chance for Estevao or Andrey to come on and potentially change the game”.
He also spoke about the defeat and why he decided to do a rotation.
"I think tonight's first XI, we had eight or nine players that played against Tottenham, Barcelona, Wolves, Arsenal. If you see the five changes we did compared to Bournemouth, it's different. For sure, we conceded two goals that for me we can avoid. When you concede, the first one is the moment when you can't lose the control of the game but I have a feeling that we lost the control of the game after the goal we conceded."
Chelsea fans will hope Maresca gets the right tactics when they host Everton at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
