Enzo Maresca reportedly reaches an agreement with Manchester City

Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester City to succeed Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

Several reports claim that an agreement to succeed has already been reached between the two parties. The reported deal is believed to run until 2028, with an option for an additional year, although Manchester City have not officially confirmed the appointment yet.

The speculation intensified after reports emerged that Guardiola has informed Manchester City players of his intention to leave at the end of the 2025/26 season, despite still having a year left on his contract. Maresca is highly favoured within the City hierarchy due to his previous role as Guardiola’s assistant during the club’s Treble-winning campaign and his success at clubs like Leicester City and Chelsea.

There are also reports suggesting that City see Maresca as the ideal coach to maintain Guardiola’s tactical philosophy and possession-based style. During his managerial career, the Italian coach won the Championship title with Leicester and later guided Chelsea to UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup success before leaving the club earlier this year.

However, Guardiola will hope that he can end the season on a high by leading his team to the Premier League title against all odds after he won the Carabao and FA Cups.
