Here is why Enzo Fernandez will miss the rest of the season for Chelsea

Reports now indicate that midfielder Enzo Fernandez is set to miss the rest of the season for his club side Chelsea FC.

Argentina and Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez will, unfortunately, be unable to play for the remainder of the Premier League season due to a groin injury. The injury, which has been affecting him for over a month, is an inguinal hernia that affects the groin region between the lower abdomen and the thigh.

To address this issue, Fernandez will undergo surgery, which is expected to sideline him for approximately three weeks. However, he is expected to recover in time to play in the Copa America, which begins on June 20, 2024, in the United States.

Initially, Chelsea's medical staff attempted to address the issue with a non-invasive procedure, but after consulting with Argentina's team doctors, it was determined that surgery would be the best course of action. Before making the decision to undergo surgery, Fernandez also consulted with a kinesiologist whom he had worked with during his River Plate days.

This kinesiologist joined him in London to ensure that Fernandez would receive the best care possible. Despite the setback, Fernandez remains optimistic and is focused on making a full recovery so that he can play in the upcoming tournament.

Chelsea has however not released an official statement either confirming or denying if this would be the case for Enzo Fernandez.
