Enzo Fernandez met with his Chelsea teammates for the first time after a video was posted on Instagram showing him singing racial songs aimed at French players following Argentina's victory in the 2024 Copa America.

During Enzo Fernandez apologized to his teammates after meeting them for the first time during Chelsea's 2024 pre-season tour in the United States. He also offered to make a significant donation to an anti-discrimination charity in response to his actions with his Argentine teammates.

Chelsea captain Reece James and French defender Axel Disasi have been working as intermediaries between Fernandez and the rest of the squad. Disasi was one of the French players who unfollowed Fernandez on social media after the video surfaced, which was described by fellow Frenchman Wesley Fofana as demonstrating "uninhibited racism".

Initially, Fernandez had apologized to the Chelsea team through his official social media accounts, but this was his first opportunity to do so in person, aiming to mend the strained relationship with the French players.

The Chelsea team management hopes that the issues between the players will be resolved before their first competitive game of the season against Manchester City.
