The English FA have confirmed the suspension of one of Liverpool's youngsters who was seen to have punched a Manchester United player in the face.

The match which was played in January 2024 showed how the Reds defender Luca Furnell-Gill lashed out in the Under 18 Premier League match at United's player, Ethan Wheatley, the incident was unpunished by the referee.

The incident occurred shortly before United scored their second equaliser in the game which the young Red Devils won 4-3 at Carrington. Wheatley tried to obstruct Furnell-Gill's attempts to close down his team-mate, but as they collided, the Liverpool player sucker-punched him before continuing his run.

The centre-back who has played eight times for the Reds in the Under 18 Premier League this season has been absent for their past four games, with these believed to be part of the suspension.

United have continued to dominate the Under 18 Premier League, having won 15 out of 17 matches. They are 13 points ahead of Manchester City in second place and 20 points ahead of Liverpool in third place.
