Chelsea and Tottenham eye Barca star with €1 billion release clause
Chelsea and Tottenham have reportedly made an audacious transfer move to sign a young Barca star whose release clause is fixed at one billion euros.
As the transfer window slowly draws closer to an end, Chelsea and Tottenham have reportedly started making moves to sign a Barca star with a release clause of one billion euros, according to numerous reports.
Popular sports journalist Fabrizio Romano shared that Chelsea and Tottenham have made inquiries about signing Barcelona's young talent, Ansu Fati, from the club. It is, however, uncertain if this would be a loan move for the Spaniard, taking into consideration that his release clause following his contract extension has been estimated to be at a staggering fee of one billion dollars.
With questions about the future of the 20-year-old being asked in recent times following his lack of playing time at the club, a potential move to the premier league is something that can not be ruled out of the youngster's future.
Tottenham are reportedly in a more advanced position in the negotiations for the player with an option of Brenan Johnson of Nottingham Forest, another option they are exploring.
Head coach of Barcelona, Xavi, in a recent interview, debunked the rumours and speculation of a potential move to direct rivals Real Madrid. He said, 'This is a joke, isn’t it? I have already been very blunt about Ansu. Debates are being generated that make no sense. Ansu is an important player and is part of the club’s heritage, now and in the future. They [the media] are generating sterile debates with Ansu and I don’t understand it. He is a player who belongs to Barca and we count on him. He is in good shape and we are very happy with his performance.’
