Chelsea takes a huge decision on Trevoh Chalobah's future

Chelsea Football Club has left out Trevoh Chalobah from its pre-season tour in the United States of America ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The England international is considered surplus to requirements at the club due to the number of players who play the same position. Reports suggest that the defender is expected to leave the club before the end of this summer's transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed in a post on his official X account that the decision to leave Trevoh Chalobah out was tough for the club. However, the board feels that there are a lot of players in that position.

Despite being one of the few homegrown players left at the club, having joined at the age of eight and signing his professional contract with the Blues in 2018, Chalobah is expected to depart. He had to wait three years before making his debut for the London club, despite being loaned out on three occasions.

The 25-year-old has garnered interest from Premier League clubs, including West Ham United and Crystal Palace. There are also reports that Bayern Munich is interested in the defender, as the Bavarian club looks to solidify its defense for Vincent Kompany.

Chalobah recently signed a new contract with Chelsea in November 2022, which means he is expected to remain at the club until 2028.

Chelsea's tour of the States will see them face Wrexham in the early hours of Thursday, July 25, 2024, before taking on Celtic on Saturday, July 28, 2024.
