Chelsea takes a huge decision on Datro Fofana's future
The forward player of Chelsea Football Club, Datro Fofana, is reportedly set to join AEK Athens on a season-long loan deal.
Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on his official X account on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. According to Datro Fofano, the deal involves an option to buy for around £20m, which is dependent on AEK Athens.
However, the 21-year-old's move remains subject to final paperwork and a medical being signed off, with the Greek transfer window closing on Wednesday night. Chelsea signed Datro Fofana from Norwegian club Molde for £8.4m and could secure a profit from the deal if they can secure a deal for the Ivorian forward player at the end of next season.
Fofana played just four times for Chelsea without scoring a goal. He was sent out on loan twice, initially with Bundesliga side Union Berlin, where he scored twice in 17 games, then at Burnley last season, where he scored four goals in 15 matches.
The Ivorian joins the likes of Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher, Tino Anjorin, Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Djorde Petrovic, Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Romelu Lukaku, Omari Hutchinson, and Angelo as they look to balance their books for the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
