Chelsea release official statement on Mudryk's doping scandal
Chelsea have released an official statement regarding the recent suspension of Mykhailo Mudryk from football on the allegations of doping.
Chelsea Football Club has issued an official statement addressing the provisional suspension of their forward, Mykhailo Mudryk, by the Football Association (FA) following an adverse finding in a routine doping test.
The 23-year-old Ukrainian international, who joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk in an £88.5 million transfer, faces a potential ban after his sample tested positive for a banned substance.
In their statement, Chelsea affirmed their commitment to the FA’s anti-doping procedures while backing Mudryk’s position on the matter. The club said, “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that the Football Association recently contacted Mykhailo Mudryk regarding an adverse finding in a routine urine test. Both the club and Mykhailo fully support the FA’s testing protocols, and all of our players, including Mykhailo, undergo regular testing.”
Mudryk, who has been absent from Chelsea’s last five matches, expressed his shock and denied knowingly taking any banned substances. On social media, he stated, “I have been informed that a sample I provided to the FA contained a banned substance. This news has completely shocked me, as I have never intentionally used any prohibited substances or broken any regulations. I am collaborating closely with my team to understand how this could have occurred.”

The news of Mudryk's suspension has caused a stir within the football community, leaving fans and analysts eager for updates as the investigation unfolds. While the investigation continues, both Chelsea and Mudryk remain optimistic that the issue will be resolved fairly and expeditiously, enabling the talented forward to return to action as soon as possible.
