Chelsea reportedly reach an agreement with a Premier League star

There are reports that Chelsea Football Club have reportedly reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Granit Xhaka over a potential summer transfer.

The Swiss midfielder is reportedlty is open to a move to Stamford Bridge with manager Xabi Alonso reportedly pushing to reunite with a player he previously worked with.

Chelsea are now believed to be indiscussions with Sunderland AFC over a transfer fee. Initial reports indicate the Blues have submitted an opening offer of around €30 million, although negotiations are still ongoing and no final agreement has been reached between the clubs.

The 33-year-old enjoyed an outstanding season with Sunderland after joining from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2025, helping the club qualify for European competition while bringing leadership and experience to midfield.

Xhaka's qualities had been seen as a strong fit for Alonso's plans at Stamford Bridge. However, the transfer is not yet official, but Chelsea appears to be making significant progress toward completing the deal.

This rumour is coming after Marco Palestra completed his medical and signed a six year deal as new Chelsea player. There’s an option for a further season until 2033.

Chelsea fans will hope that this new season will begin a new start under the reign of Xabi Alonso as they look to rebuild
