Chelsea recall midfielder from loan after six months

Chelsea Football Club have recalled Andrey Santos from Nottingham Forest following his lack of playing time during his loan spell at the club.

The Blues confirmed the arrival of Andrey Santos on its official website on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. According to reports from Chelsea, the decision to recall the Brazilian international was because of the lack of game time he got at Forest.

The 19-year-old joined the Reds in the 2023 summer transfer window and made his debut under then-head coach Steve Cooper a few days later in a Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley.

He made his Premier League debut followed at the end of October, when he was introduced from the substitutes’ bench against Liverpool at Anfield. However, Santos didn’t feature under new Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santos.

Recall that he joined Chelsea during the 2023 January transfer window from Vasco da Gama before returning to the Brazilian side on loan, he was also impressive for the Blues during the 2023/24 pre-season games.
