Chelsea reportedly makes a shocking move for Liverpool's transfer window target

Liverpool might have to step things up in the transfer window as Chelsea, according to reports, has made a shocking bid for the club's transfer window target.

With Liverpool doing less business in the Summer transfer window market, the Anfield side might have to step up their bid for the primary transfer window target as Chelsea, according to sports journalists, has reportedly made a bid worth 48 million pounds for the player.

It was reported that Chelsea FC put forward a massive offer of £48 million, including additional performance-based incentives, to secure the services of midfielder Romeo Lavia from Southampton. The West London club officially presented the proposal on Wednesday evening.

Negotiations are underway between the two clubs, with Southampton's initial valuation standing at £50 million for the player. However, this asking price was initially viewed as excessive by Liverpool, who bid 46 million pounds for the player as it was considered appropriate for a player of his experience.

During the previous season, Lavia made 29 appearances for Southampton before being sidelined by a hamstring injury, which disrupted his playing time. Despite his recent arrival at Southampton, Chelsea attempted to secure his services last September on the final day of the transfer window with a £50 million offer.

Chelsea has been pursuing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo to strengthen their midfield this summer.
