Social media has been buzzing following video of Chelsea FC star being stopped and searched by armed police officers in Italy.

Most people are still trying to understand why Chelsea FC star Bakayoko who is currently on loan to AC Milan was stopped and searched by armed police officers in Italy.

In a video that was shared on social media today, Monday, July 18, 2022, it showed the police conducting a thorough search on the player without having an idea about who he was till another officer had confirmed his identity as a footballer.

The video caused an outrage on social media till the Italian police came out to publicly address the case as an issue of a mistaken identity.

According to goal.com, the Milan police headquarters released a public statement through ANSA that read:

“These comments are out of place."The check was triggered because Bakayoko and the other passenger corresponded perfectly, by chance, to the descriptions [of people wanted by the police], and of course it ended when it was realised that he [the police officer] had stopped a person who had nothing to do with it.”
