Chelsea defender reportedly signs four-year contract extension

Chelsea Football Club have confirmed the contract extension of one of its defenders, Alfie Gilchrist, which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2026.

The announcement was made on the official website of the Blues on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The young defender broke into the first team this season under Mauricio Pochettino, he has made 12 senior appearances for the London club.

Gilchrist expressed his excitement on the club's official website after the contract extension was announced.

He said,

"Signing this contract at Chelsea is a massive achievement for me and my family,. It was a no-brainer and every time I’ve signed a contract here it has felt nicer and nicer. But now I want to keep on pushing on and keep improving.’'

Gilchrist is a product of Chelsea's academy as an Under-11 and moved through the age groups at Cobham.
He cemented his place at the club during the 2020/21 campaign that he cemented himself as a regular for the Under-18s before breaking into the men's team.
