Former Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro has been linked with a move to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon ahead of AFCON 2025.

Following his successful stint with the Super Eagles of Nigeria at AFCON 2023, head coach, Jose Peseiro has become one of the most in-demand coaches on the continent and it is no surprise that the Cameroon FA is reportedly considering him as a replacement for the sacked Rigobert Song.

After being linked with a move to Algeria and the South African club side Keizer Chiefs, The Cameroon national team seem to have their eyes set on bringing in the Portuguese to improve their overall team play as the rumours of an impending ban from AFCON 2025 hoovers around the team.

There are recent reports suggesting that the Cameroonian Football Federation is considering hiring Peseiro to replace Rigobert Song as the head coach of Cameroon. Negotiations are currently underway between Samuel Eto’o, the president of the federation, and the Portuguese tactician.

It is rumoured that Peseiro is requesting a monthly salary of $100,000, which is almost three times the amount earned by Song. Eto’o is reportedly seeking the support of the Cameroonian government to meet Peseiro’s salary demands. Peseiro had an impressive performance with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, but he failed to reach an agreement with the Nigerian Football Federation regarding his contract extension. The coach had asked for a monthly salary of $120,000, while the federation was willing to offer only $80,000.
