The Dutch player is currently a free agent after he left Inter Milan on mutual consent. Eriksen left the club because of his current situation of using the cardioverter-defibrillator device ( ICD) which was implanted in him to allow him. The use of ICD is not allowed by the Italian medical authority.

Sky Sports News confirmed the news on its website on Monday, January 17th, 2022. According to the reports, Brentford are set to sign the player for the rest of the season.

Eriksen who was speaking in an interview with Danish broadcaster, DR, said, his goal is to play at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and his mind is focused on making that dream a reality.

My goal is to play in the World Cup in Qatar. I want to play. That's been my mindset all along. It is a goal, a dream. Whether I will be picked is another thing, just it's my dream to come back. Physically, I am back in top shape. I want to prove I have moved on and that I can play on the national team again. It is up to the manager to assess my level but my heart is not an obstacle.

Former Denmark captain suffered a cardiac arrest during the Euro 2020 competition in the opening group game against Hungary in June 2021.
