Brazilian FA take shocking decision on Antony's situation

The Brazilian Football Federation reacts to the situation of its midfielder, Antony, and his girlfriend, who accused him of domestic violence.

The football association released a statement on Monday, September 4, 2023, confirming that the Brazilian has been suspended from the national team. Antony admitted in a statement he released that there was verbal abuse between himself and his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin but denied any form of physical abuse.

"In light of the facts which came to light on Monday (04/09) concerning Manchester United player Antony, which must be investigated, and in order to safeguard the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian national team and the CBF, the organization informs that the athlete has been removed from the Brazilian national team."

Gabriela Cavallin accused Antony of breaking her fingers and hitting her when she was pregnant. She confirmed in an interview which was released on a Brazilian website UOL published on Monday, September 4, 2023.

The new evidence includes photographs and screenshots of messages where she claimed that the Brazilian attacked her on various occasions between June 2022 and May 2023.
